The United Kingdom is also known as Great Britain, the UK or Britain. Its capital is city of London. It consists of four countries: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. It was estimated that Uk would have had its population grown to 61,792,000 by 2009. Uk is also a multicultural country with predominant ethnic being the white British. Other major ethnic groups include Indian, Pakistani, Whit Irish, Black Caribbean, Bangladeshi and Chinese. UK’s official language is English, which is also the most taught second language in the world. There are number of languages spoken in United Kingdom depending on the ethnicity and the location viz. Scots, Welsh, Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Panjabi, Hindi, Urdu etc.
Though Christianity was dominated for the past 1400 years, UK is increasingly becoming secular multi faith country. After Christianity, other religions followed include Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, Judaism, Buddhism etc.
